Former Vegas cocktail waitress Chrissy Mazzeo has decided to take an out-of-court settlement in her case against former Nevada governor Jim Gibbons.

The amount of the settlement was a relative pittance, $50,000, but I am sure Mazzeo will put it to good use.

Gibbons was a U.S. representative for the second district and running for Nevada governor when he allegedly accosted and assaulted Mazzeo in a parking garage. The scandal didn't hurt his chances for election, but his antics and incompetence while he was governor DID end his career.

Now Nevada has somebody in the governor's mansion who could be worse.

A lawyer for a former cocktail waitress questioned Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons under oath for a lawsuit alleging Gibbons orchestrated a cover-up after the woman accused him of grabbing her outside a bar in 2006.

Aides to lawyers on both sides said Friday’s deposition was conducted behind closed doors at the federal courthouse in Las Vegas.

I will likely be moving out of state by the time Mazzeo's lawsuit against Jimbo goes to trial, if it ever does. Jimbo's team wants to delay the discovery process in the lawsuit.

Jimbo can't even get a break: Chrissy Mazzeo has filed a federal lawsuit against the hapless governor.

The complaint is here in all its glory. A morsel:

Gibbons was immediately infatuated with Mazzeo, and as everyone in the party drank for the next hour and tifteen minutes. Gibbons kept touching Mazzeo's thigh with his hand and her calf and foot by wrapping his leg around her leg, and Gibbons kept telling Mazzeo how beautiful she was and what big eyes she had and how '-overly boring' his marriage was after twenty years. Meanwhile, Mazzeo kept trying to move closer and closer to Pennie to avoid someone she merely considered a boring and undesirable o1d man. At the table- Gibbons told Mazzeo that he was staying at the hotel next to the restaurant. that they could walk there and, 'It's so close- we could crawl back.'' 20 Residenee lnn ("Residence Inn'') which is, in fact,just across Hughes Center Drive from McCormick & Schmick's- although slightly further than crawling distance on the rain soaked 22 street.

Old Jimbo apparently texted messages to his rumored mistress. That's one thing, but this is the STATE cell phone he was using:

Gov. Jim Gibbons used his state-owned cell phone to send more than 850 text messages in one month last year to the woman he’s accused of having an affair with, according to documents obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal.

The records reveal a flurry of text messages between Gibbons and a cell phone owned by Kathy Karrasch, the estranged wife of a Reno doctor. Gibbons, who filed for divorce earlier this year, has been seen in Reno on several outings with Karrasch since his marital troubles with first lady Dawn Gibbons became public.

In a court brief filed two weeks ago, Dawn Gibbons accused her husband of ending their 22-year marriage because of his “infatuation and involvement” with the wife of a Reno doctor. That woman has never been officially named by Dawn Gibbons or her lawyer.

Read that again: more than 850 messages in ONE MONTH.

The text messages occurred throughout the day and night, on weekends and work days. On one Friday, for example, Gibbons exchanged 160 text messages with Karrasch starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 11:45 p.m. On another night, Gibbons exchanged 91 messages between midnight and 2 a.m. with her.

I think we can stick a fork in this guy.
