Record producer Jerry Wexler, 91, who was one of the most important figures bringing rhythm & blues music to the masses, died of congestive heart failure.
Not only did he bring r&b to the forefront, he literally came up with the term "rhythm and blues."
Wexler didn't care much for rock 'n' roll of the 1960s and 1970s; his big significance was helping to propel the careers of artists such as Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, and Aretha Franklin to huge success.
