McCain/Palin Rally

No, the two candidates were not there today, but in their place were actors Jon Voight and John Ratzenberger and former governor Mitt Romney. This is the first time I have seen Romney in person, and I can say I am damned glad he isn't on the McCain ticket. He is very popular in Nevada; after all, he won the caucus. However, if Obama wins Tuesday, not a sure thing, I am scared to death this guy or Jeb will be the GOP's pick in 2012.

Anyway, he is good-looking in person. Must be all of that clean living.

One more.

Mitt took the stage.

Mitt Romney was in the crowd and listened to what Voight had to say. They made other stops in northern Nevada today.

This is another picture of Voight. He didn't speak for too long.

Here is another picture of Voight. I managed to get the trio's autographs after the rally. What kind of pissed me off, though, was after I received Voight's autograph, some woman had to mention his daughter, Angelina Jolie, of course, and she started badmouthing her. I came very, very, very close to shooting my mouth off and telling her to cool it, for, after all, Jolie IS his daughter, and people should never trash other people's kids, regardless of whatever relationship they might have or had in the past. Voight did say he kept in touch with her. Still, that was damned tacky of the woman to mention it.

I didn't have any really clear pictures of Ratzenberger, and in any case I am having trouble trying to fix the pictures so they aren't "read only." Ratzenberger and Voight kept talking about the 1960s, and they claimed Obama's candidacy was really about some people trying to bring those days back, even though Obama was born too late to have any meaningful memories of the decade and always railed against that decade! It's funny, because both Ratzenberger, 61, and Voight, who turns 70 on December 29, obviously do have memories of it. Ratzenberger even worked in setting up the Woodstock festival in 1969, for crying out loud. Ratzenberger kept talking about Woodstock, and Voight kept talking about Vietnam, and how in the world those would have anything to do with Obama is a mystery. Obama, the Wall Street-backed Democratic Party sellout, was depicted as a dangerous leftist.

The Reno Gazette-Journal was also there.

Speaking of Sarah Palin, she will be in Reno on Monday, November 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Reno Livestock Events Center, not terribly far from my place. Doors will open at 6. I plan to be there and record it if possible.

Local Campaign Notes

I received this email from the local GOP headquarters:

Governor Mitt Romney, Actor Jon Voight, and candidates from the Republican ticket!

Join us to help keep Nevada Red! The rally will take place this Friday, October 31st at 1:00 PM at the

McCain/Heller/Victory Headquarters
3702 South Virginia St.
Reno, NV 89502

The most important part - Join us for precinct walks before and/or after the rally! Walkers will meet at the above address at 9:00 AM for a morning walk, and will depart again for an afternoon walk at 2:00 PM after the rally. Walkers will knock doors spreading the McCain-Palin message.

Want to get your picture taken with Mitt Romney and Jon Voight?

The first 20 people to knock 150 doors or make 400 phone calls this week will get a photo opportunity with Mitt Romney and Jon Voight at the rally on Friday!

In addition, we will reserve a limited number of photo opportunities for the first people who sign up to participate in both the morning and afternoon walks on Friday (first come, first served)!

This is doable for me if I remember.

TV actor John Ratzenberger will be in town tomorrow, but I'll skip that one. He's not that big a name.
