While I was in Portland on job searches, director Jules Dassin, 96, died. He had been blacklisted in the U.S. in the 1950s because he had had Communist Party ties. Dassin's third wife was actress Melina Mercouri, who died in 1994.
For some weird reason I thought Dassin was foreign born, but he was a Connecticut yankee.
