The Commutation

of Scooter Libby's sentence is a monument to corruption, and it is ultimately likely a CYA move in order to protect Cheney.

The problem is there's not a damned thing anybody can do about it. Our dictator was "elected" by the American people, and it is his prerogative to pardon or grant clemency to anybody he damned well wishes.

There aren't the votes in the House or the Senate (especially if you include the blue dog Democrats) to impeach and remove either Bush or Cheney, so it's just a stupid waste of time.

Blame the American voters for that horrible state of affairs.

When

you're George W. Bush and don't give a damn what others think, you can do anything you please, including commuting sentences for perjurers.

If you have a spouse and young kids, you, too, can be let off the hook.

desperately want Scooter Libby to be pardoned.

I suspect they are worried what might happen to President Cheney.

As I was trying to wake up this morning, I was listening to KGO radio, and there seemed to be some speculation now that Cheney has conveniently gotten sick with a blood clot, that he might step down and Condoleeza Rice might step in his place. And, if that happens, it could change the entire makeup of the presidential race.

I don't think Cheney is going to step down unless absolutely necessary. And I still don't think he is going to be charged with anything with regard to the Libby case.

But you never know.

After days of deliberation, a jury has convicted Scooter Libby in connection with Plamegate.

Let's see if I'm right that this case doesn't go any further up the chain.

blasts the Washington Post for publishing a smear article by right-wing flak Victoria Toensing. Parry, like many others, believes Toensing was engaging what amounts to jury tampering in the Scooter Libby case.

I can't say I disagree with this assessment.
