The rare footage of the cast of The Misfits, including Marilyn Monroe, fetched $60,000 at auction.

A Sparks, Nevada, couple owned the silent, 8-millimeter color footage:

“On Set With 'The Misfits’” features candid moments with Monroe and Gable, as well as Montgomery Clift, Thelma Ritter and Huston, who is seen riding a camel down Main Street in Reno. The film shows the actors preparing for scenes, chatting with crew members and others on the set, and relaxing between takes.

A Sparks, Nevada, couple is selling some behind-the-scenes footage of the 1961 film, The Misfits, filmed in northern Nevada.

It will be auctioned off Saturday at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Del Martin, 87, and partner Phyllis Lyon, 84, became the first gay/lesbian couple to marry in San Francisco.

Both are well known in the lesbian rights movement, and Martin especially I remember from some her writings about battered women.

Martin was actually married to a man for four years and divorced him. Martin has one daughter. She kept his name. Her maiden name is Dorothy Taliaferro, and she was born in San Francisco. I wonder if she is related to KGO talk show host Ray Taliaferro.

Hells Angels bigshot and brothel owner David Burgess was found guilty in Wyoming on child porn charges.

I was so busy with other things I left it off the blog. He was convicted a couple of weeks ago.

Burgess is a nephew of fugitive tax evader and pimp Joe Conforte of Mustang Ranch infamy.

I was correct some scenes of the 1961 film The Misfits were shot just east of Dayton, Nevada, as well as in Dayton, Reno, and other areas of northern Nevada.

There is an area near Dayton with dry lakes, and when we drove by there on the way back to Reno from Utah and Arizona last June, I wondered out loud if this is where the crew shot the airplane and roundup scenes of the film. Indeed it's so, and the area is known as "Misfit Flats."

Local wingnuts gave an enthusiastic welcome to Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and Oliver North when they appeared last night at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.

I didn't bother to attend.
