This is Unreal

This is really something: Democrats are closing in on registrations in Washoe County, Nevada, against Republicans. This hasn't happened in something like thirty years, when Democrats last led in voter registrations.

In the Washoe County voter registrar’s weekly count, Republicans had 89,003 and Democrats 87,500. Non-partisan registration was at 32,190.

As somebody who felt like an endangered species when I moved here almost 25 years ago, this is truly remarkable.

Campaign Notes

In addition to John McCain coming to Reno next week, our dictator plans to make a stop giving closing remarks at a conference.

No doubt this is a closed event or I would go.
_____

Surprisingly, Democratic registrations are closing the gap in Washoe County, long considered a GOP stronghold.

The political slant around here is FAR different than when I first moved to Washoe County almost 25 years ago. It was very lonely being a Democrat then. I didn't make an issue of it, believe me.

Jill Derby gave an interview with the local paper today or recently.

I don't care for her answer about the proposed bailout.

Campaign Notes

This is why Biden should have been the nominee and not Obama. He also noted McCain's campaign has no room to talk.
_____

Because the rurals in Nevada are likely to go McCain in a big way and Clark County will likely go to Obama, Washoe County is seen as the major battleground in the state.

That may be so, but as far as I am concerned, McCain has the clear advantage here.
