Obama's Been in Office Less Than a Year, and His Poll Numbers

are taking a major dive, largely due to his administration's lack of attention being paid to the economy, except, of course, its pandering to Wall Street interests.

If this poll can be believed, Obama is supposed to be on the way to a decisive win, but call me skeptical he is that far ahead.

Rasmussen has him up by five. The map is rather interesting, to say the least. In Nevada, Obama leads McCain by four points, 50-46, but with a four-point margin of error.

It can go either way.

Thanks to McCain's more or less animated performance in last week's debate, the race has once again tightened to near dead-heat status.

I think it'll hedge on Ohio in the end.

According to News from the Ass..., a new poll shows Obama is now seven points ahead of McCain, for what it's worth.

It's pure fantasy to believe Obama has a chance in hell of winning the Silver State given it is still conservative in most of it and that it borders on Arizona.

Supposedly Obama has opened up a 15-point lead over John McCain in still more media manipulation of the election.

I don't believe it. Even if the poll were accurate, it doesn't mean much this far out. Mike Dukakis was way out in front in 1988, and Bush I didn't have the media gushing all over him like John McCain has.

For now, however, Obama is running much stronger at this point in the race than his two most recent Democratic predecessors, Sen. John Kerry and Vice President Al Gore, who both failed in their bids to win the White House. In a July 2004 NEWSWEEK Poll, Kerry led Bush by only 6 points (51 percent to 45 percent). In June 2000, Gore was in a dead heat with Bush (45 percent to 45 percent)—which is essentially where he ended up when that razor-thin election was finally decided.

Both of those candidates actually won their elections but for Republican skullduggery. Obama won't even come close to McCain once the vetting truly begins.
