The prick Obama brags about his right-wing support for "merit pay" for teachers and "tort reform," which should tell you this bastard ( no pun intended or whatever) isn't a Democrat AT ALL.

What an ass.

McCain hit Obama on a few things, and mentioned--very briefly--those filthy Palin t-shirts. Of course our media will say Obama was "cool and collected" while McCain was "bad tempered and nasty." It doesn't matter how much Obama lies or how Republican he sounds, he's got the election in the bag. And Democrats will be screwed for years to come.

Obama can't answer a question without going into a filibuster. And he needs to watch the smiling when McCain answers. He apparently doesn't realize people see that, and it looks arrogant.

Thank God it's over. Observation: I give McCain the edge tonight. He had nothing to lose by going on the attack. Obama has NEVER learned the virtue of brevity. He goes on and on and on and never shuts up. Furthermore, he really doesn't say anything.

Sure it was the dullest debate ever, but the problem has less to do with the format or rules than it has to do with these godawful candidates.

With McCain and Obama, you have to print out the transcript and read carefully to fully appreciate how they glided past sharp questions. Because both have gone through dozens of such encounters over the past couple of years, and because Obama in particular is an exceptionally fluent speaker, their answers can sound plausible — even when the fog machine is going full blast.

And:

Both Obama and McCain were once cult-of-personality candidates, running on their inspirational personal biographies and reformist profiles more than on their policy records.

At least in this format, unfortunately, neither of them had especially appealing personalities. The combination of the two, as at the first debate in Mississippi, gave the evening a tense mood that contributed to the feeling of time hanging heavy.

McCain’s contribution to the peevish tone was more obvious, as when he referred to Obama as “that one.”

Obama was, as ever, cooler and more poised. As the younger man — trying to make history as the first African-American president — he surely feels a special imperative to convey calm and reassurance.

He does it so well, however, that he did not do much to convey what he is passionate about. Neither man showed much humor. Self-deprecation seems not to come naturally to either one. The I-love-me quotient has rarely been higher in one of these debates.

It was a stark contrast to the personality and even warmth that both Biden and Palin showed at last week’s St. Louis encounter.

Debate Analysis or Whatever

Last night's debate was a crashing bore, which shouldn't have surprised anybody.

Although both candidates are ardent Friedmanites, they somehow clashed over the economy.

Somehow Dan Balz was able to translate Barack Obama's stream-of-consciousness ramblings to claim Obama actually contrasted his position on the economy with McCain's despite the fact he, like McCain, would put entitlements like SS on the table--a dead giveaway this man is NOT a Democrat.

Debate Thoughts [Updated]

It's another yawner, and it's clear McCain isn't going to do a goddamned thing to benefit the vast majority of the American people.

Obama was absolutely incoherent. He would start strong, but then he would wander off on some tangent and constantly ran overtime with his answers. This is going to kill him when people realize he doesn't really know what he is talking about. It was the same problem John Kerry had, but Kerry learned to keep his answers short in the debates with our dictator in 2004.

He needs to cut out the dazzling-with-bullshit eggheaddery. He needs to keep his answers short. It's not a college class, after all.

The last question, the one asking the candidates what they didn't know, Obama turned around and acted like he knew every goddamned thing on earth. Shit. At least McCain answered the question.

What a miserable set of choices we are stuck with. Who "won" this debate? Obama might actually have better policy proposals, but it was hard to make out what they were, while McCain's proposals are awful, but at least he talks in plain English. Therefore, one cancels out the other. I call it a draw.

Update: I want to note this post and this post for mentioning the obvious fact both of our candidates are Friedmanites and would put Social Security and other entitlements "on the table." Again, why is Obama in the Democratic Party if he is not a Democrat at all? He should be fucking purged from it.

I was right it was a mistake for McCain to have even talked about wanting to have tonight's debate delayed; he shouldn't have done it.
