The Worst Idea Ever for a Television Show?

And  I thought the vintage turkeys Strike It Rich or, one of my all-time favorite baddies, Queen for a Day, were the all-time worst for exploitation for ratings.  Now some genius has come up with the idea of a show called Labor of Love, whereby 15 stupid men vie to become a sperm donor to an idiot woman totally brainwashed by the idea she has to have a baby to be happy.

Not only WHO the hell thought of this idea, but also WHO was the culprit who gave the green light to this utter bullshit of using women and babies as commodities?

This woman, this idiot who calls herself Kristy Katzmann, can't understand that the very fact she would prostitute herself on national and international television makes her unfit to be a mother by definition.  Furthermore, the sense of entitlement, typical of rich people, is overwhelming.

While Kristy is recently divorced and has a successful career, she's never had kids and desperately wants to.

"I've just turned 40 and have just gotten out of a relationship. I've been trying to navigate dating, knowing that I still want to start a family and that time was definitely not on my side. I think it's a really incredible story that a lot of women will be able to relate to," she told Fox news.

Why do you want to "start a family"? Are you getting pressure from relatives and so-called friends? Why can't you just simply live your life and not use a baby as a checkmark on a bucket list?

Davis then leads the cast to a trailer where the men will make their deposits so their sperm can be tested, all while the cameras roll. (Lenses stay outside of the trailer.)

Later, with Katzmann's fertility doctor present, Davis gives an award to the contender with the most "active swimmers": Alan, a writer from South Africa.

Why the hell didn't she just get with Anderson Cooper and be done with it?

Disgusting.

Pink Lady and Jeff

A spring replacement series from the early 1980s considered among the worst ever made, and perhaps the worst variety show ever, was Pink Lady and Jeff. Neither of the Japanese singers really knew English, and the "comedian" wasn't very funny.

A couple of those were specials, and at least one was an early miniseries (The Survivors), but most were regular television series.

Me and the Chimp (1972) was hailed by many as a worthy successor to My Mother, the Car as the worst. I haven't seen the former, which I want to, but remember the latter, a show I don't believe qualifies as THE worst. Queen for a Day probably set the standard of tastelessness that all other bad shows have followed. As I mentioned at one time, few surviving episodes exist today. It was a live series, and networks tended to erase the kinescopes and videotapes of these programs.
