What's sad is there is a debate among the contenders this weekend, but ABC was having trouble finding affiliates to carry it. Actually, it is an outrage the broadcast media--media that are supposed to represent the PUBLIC interest and using the PUBLIC airwaves--decide they want to shut out discussion of vital issues. They want to shut out anything other than 24/7 propaganda in favor of the dictatorship. It burns me up that we who are interested in issues and the political campaign must resort to the Internet to find information. Yes, the Internet is a great invention, thanks to Al Gore, but it is limited and does NOT have the impact of television. Furthermore, while most people will not see the debate, millions will see the inevitable spin put on it by the Karl Rove lapdogs. The spin, as we know, is more important than seeing the event itself.
