inna deep doo-doo in his effort to recall California Gray Davis and pave the way for his own run for the governorship:

"Supporters of Mr. Davis say Representative Darrell Issa, Republican of Vista, has solicited donations despite the ban on federal officeholder's raising soft money. The money is used to finance Rescue California, a committee that is paying for the effort to obtain the 900,000 signatures needed to force a special election in which voters would decide on recalling Mr. Davis, a Democrat."

Give it up, Eye-sa, Issa, Izzy, Wazzy, or whatever your name is. Wait until the office becomes vacant or eligible next election go-round and run for it legitimately.
