Howard Fineman

thinks, or maybe he doesn't, but we will give him the benefit of the doubt, Democrats might not be asking the right questions on the WMD issue. They've got to be careful because our little dictator enjoys tremendous popularity--at least according to the polls.

Fineman, ever the worry wart who doubtless supports our fearless dictator, thinks Democrats should not be calling Bush a liar. It might well fall on deaf ears. After all, the Republicans called the Clintons (leave it to Fineman to bring up Bill and Hillary) liars for eight years, and where did that get them? They couldn't oust them so they had to go after that unspeakable liar, Al Gore, and steal the presidency from him and the American people. So it may not work for Democrats to call Bush a liar, even if he is (and any thinking person, which may or may not include Fineman, knows he's a liar).

Besides, calling Bush a liar isn't the Democrats' job. The job belongs to Al Franken.

Democrats also have to face the reality that public opinion supports the hideous invasion of Iraq, no matter what the reason, no matter if the "reason" for going in there was a pack of lies. Finally, how would it help our "security" if Democrats complain about Saddam? Will it make us more secure, or will it make us less secure?

In all truth, Howie, the WMD "issue" is going to be long gone by the time the truly serious campaigning begins. The smart Democrats aren't going to keep harping on the "war" issue when it is a done deal. If it proves correct that Bush lied and people died for that lie, it will all come out in the wash and bite him and his PNAC mob in the ass.
