House, despite the "leadership" of the Republican majority, passed an $800 million tax increase yesterday in order to balance the state budget.

However, some nutjobs on the anti-tax right want to retaliate:

"Republicans control the House 35-25, but a coalition of moderate Republicans and Democrats provided a momentum that GOP leaders could not top. In the end, 11 Republicans and all Democrats voted yes...

"Tax activists [read fascists] who want to overturn the tax increase vowed to collect the 50,000 signatures needed to put the plan on the ballot, where voters could reject it."

Then WHY have a legislature if voters won't allow the legislature to do its job? That's the biggest problem with so-called "democratic" procedures such as referenda, initiatives, and recalls. They've been perverted by the radical, anti-democratic right.

These nutjobs believe the Republicans who voted this evil increase, which amounts to $38 A YEAR to those making $40k to $50K a year in adjusted gross income, because of pressures to adjourn thus abandoning their principles. "Principles" in the nutjobs' lexicon means destroying the social fabric of the state in order to give more handouts to the rich.

Citizens for a Sound Economy is an extremist anti-tax group co-chaired by former Representative Dick Armey. Enough said. There's nothing "sound" about the organization's policies.
