There is a good reason why Republicans so much want Barack Obama as the nominee: It is because they are worried that if they don't retain the White House, even if it's somebody like John McCain occupying it, they may be consigned to the sidelines entirely.
If Democrats are crazy enough to nominate Obama, they'd better be working like hell on downticket races, for the top ticket will be lost.
______
John Edwards made a fool out of himself endorsing Obama tonight, but I would have been madder than hell had he done it earlier. Who knows why he is doing it? Does he really think the Chicago Shitbag is better than Hillary Clinton? Does he want Obama's mailing list of supporters so Edwards can fund his pet projects? Is Edwards counting on Obama imploding and perhaps be the nominee himself in a brokered convention? Does he think he's going to have a job in a non-existent Obama administration?
Who the hell knows? Only Elizabeth and his barber know for sure.
