Campaign Notes.

As mentioned before on this blog, John McCain spoke in Reno yesterday at the Boys and Girls Club.

Estimates are 600 people attended, less than double his appearance a year ago at the McKinley Arts Center.

When you compare that appearance in a red state on a workday to appearances by Obama, Clinton, or even Edwards, all of whom drew crowds of at least a 1,000 and often more, and especially when McCain is the presumptive Republican nominee and very possibly the next president, that is an extremely paltry number of people.

Compare that with Bush's numbers when he came to Reno to campaign in 2004. He drew over 10,000 in June and 16,000 in October (that included a bunch of people who were at a convention). It isn't just because he was the sitting president, either. John Kerry drew something like 12,000 or more at Lawlor in October of that year.

More local reports can be found here and here.
