The Jockey Club’s Thoroughbred Safety Committee has recommended, among other things, a ban on steroids in racing and in curbing use of the whip.
What the industry wants to be REALLY careful about are complaints by groups like PETA. The industry needs to know that their criticisms are just a short-term strategy towards their ultimate goal, which is the abolition not only of horse racing, but of animal domestication.
The industry is dealing with some truly batshit individuals.
More is here.
