One more picture.
Another view from the front.
A view from the front of Vikingsholm.
Here is a dining area.
While camera flash was discouraged in the main house, I did manage to get a few pictures from the kitchen area of the complex. Where no original furniture was present, furniture was found to closely approximate the late 1920s.
A view from the back of the main part of the house.
Another part of the mansion from the courtyard. Note the roof.
The old summertime mansion of Lora Knight, Vikingsholm, is a very popular tourist attraction at Lake Tahoe. The mansion was built in 1929 almost entirely of materials from Lake Tahoe. Although Knight was not Scandinavian, the house is done in that style. This is the back part of the mansion from the courtyard.
I caught this close-up of this little critter.
This little stream runs clear down to the lake.
Emerald Bay State Park is surely one of the most beautiful areas in all the world.
Another picture of Fannett Island. Note the boats going around it.
Fannette Island, the only island on Lake Tahoe. The "Tea House," which resembles a tiny castle, is on top of it.
Today I spent most of the day up at Emerald Bay State Park on the California side of Lake Tahoe. It was an absolutely perfect day with no smoke or haze of any kind. There was not a cloud in the sky. I could see completely around the lake. This was a pleasant surprise from Monday, which was smoky and hazy.
