Obama and his supporters' disgusting behavior, and the DNC's disenfranchisement of Florida and Michigan voters, are what created the backlash.

Katha Pollitt lives in a left wing cocoon of academics.
She is too stupid to see that the Messiah "won" the nomination thanks to sexism and misogyny and a vote for him amounts to rewarding sexism and misogyny.
I can't stand the Nation. It represents the wimpy liberalism and condescending elitism that has been destroying the Democratic party.
I am sure every single person in Katha Pollitt's circle supports the Messiah. These people just can't imagine anybody not supporting the Messiah.
They can't understand why anybody would own a gun or oppose abortion or be offended by gays making out in public. In their cocoon the entire electorate is left wing.
If you are ever in a fight you don't want these people on your side. They never ever win a fight. They are perpetual losers.
Worse, they have projected their fantasies to the Messiah and believe he is for single payer health care and nuclear disarmament even though he has never given them any reason to believe that.
They also feel voting for a black candidate gives them moral superiority over the unwashed masses out there.
They claim they are for the working class and yet they have open contempt for people who "cling to their guns and religion". And they wonder why the working class rejects their candidates election after election. They are the bane of the Democratic party.
What's laughable is if Obama were white, which in fact he is, they would criticize him up and down for being a sellout to right-wing interests.
Obama's gotten away with a lot because of his so-called "blackness." And yes, the fringe left are suffering from white guilt (most of them being white), and supporting this corrupt politician somehow alleviates this.
It is worse than that.
Supporting the Messiah for them is a kind of moral vanity. They can thumb their noses at people who are not supporting the Messiah and say see, I am morally superior to you, I am supporting a black candidate for president. It is about them and their moral superiority.
I find myself siding with Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh when they go after these phony liberals. They claim to be for the working class and yet they insult them with their condescension.
The same stinking bunch sent the Democratic Party down the river in 1972, and they were aided and abetted by the GOP.
