Obama is hardly a liberal or even a "progressive" but is a neoliberal more to the right than Joe Lieberman, the politician the nutroots hates the most. Not that it has stopped them from supporting Obama. There are red flags all over the place about him, but it doesn't matter to them. It doesn't matter to them they have been played all along by corporate and media interests who have rigged the game so that they win no matter who is elected or appointed president.
You will never get the Obama supporters to admit they have been targets of a well-oiled propaganda campaign.
If by some miracle Obama wins the presidency, the nutroots will turn on him with a fury.

Susan,
I don't think Obama is a liberal. I don't think he is a conservative either. Or a centrist. He is not really anything.
He hasn't given issues much thought. He has no philosophy beyond saying whatever it takes for career advancement.
He is basically an opportunist. He has gone from job to job, not staying in any job long enough to accomplish anything or to develop a philosophy.
You may be right. The only cause he believes in could be himself.
A psychiatrist would have a field day with a guy like this.
