More Palin [Updated]

You WISH, Jonathan, that she and McCain will fall on their faces.

It sounds like he's afraid people will flock to the ticket because of Palin being on it. I doubt the "scandal" in AK involving her ex-brother-in-law is going to do much damage.

After all, the other side can point to Rezko, Ayers, etc., etc., etc.
_____

If you can dismiss Palin as a "token candidate," what in the hell do you think Obama is?

Methinks there is MUCH worry in the Obamabot world of McCain's pick of Sarah Palin. They can't seriously argue she's inexperienced when that only points to Obama's obvious lack of qualifications.

Here are details of the Palin "Troopergate" allegations:

Before she was governor, Palin pushed for a trooper investigation of Wooten over a number of matters, including using a Taser on his stepson, illegally shooting a moose and accusations of driving drunk. At one point, Palin and her husband, Todd, hired a private investigator.

Troopers did investigate, and Wooten was suspended for 10 days, later reduced to five.

Palin initially said that, after she took office in December 2006, she broached the subject of Wooten with Monegan just once, when they discussed her security detail. She said that she told Monegan of threats Wooten had made against her father and also that Wooten had threatened to "bring me down." She said she thought that was the end of it.

But a week after his firing, Monegan said there was pressure to fire Wooten from Palin's administration as well as from her husband, Todd Palin. The pressure continued until just a month or two before he was let go, Monegan said.

Quite honestly I don't think this controversy will sink Palin at all. After all, her ex-brother-in-law DID act inappropriately. Moreover, this could well backfire against anybody who brings it up:

But even if we were to assume, for the sake of argument, that she did in fact act “inappropriately” by using her power to get her ex-brother in law fired, the Media has not provided any context to the situation, a fact that will eventually misfire if they bring it up in a debate. Mike Wooten, her brother in law and the man in question, was actually suspended during the same controversial period for using a Taser Gun against his own 11 year old son! He is also a well known wife abuser, who has allegedly beat Palin’s sister to a pulp in numerous occasions. This man, who as you may all guess is not ‘well liked’ by most people in his own town, has also been rumored to have continuously and publicly threatened Palin’s family with grave bodily injury (even describing how the bullets will act on their bodies), among many other nasty things.

The question then is: If you were Governor yourself, and you did not pull EVERY STRING POSSIBLE to get a man of this low caliber AWAY from your nephew and sister, before it was too late (as is always the case with these type of abusive men), wouldn’t THAT in fact be irresponsible on your part? In other words, I would much prefer to be “investigated” by a corrupt legislature for protecting my family, than allowing this abuse to continue, irrespective of the ‘political consequences’. This story, when it comes out in full, will actually give her extra points with most women during a debate, which is why I actually HOPE that they bring it up.

Susan, a few thoughts.

* Jonathan Alter is an Obama groupie. He is part of the Liberal Elite which has feen fawning over the Messiah for two years. He lives in a cocoon where EVERYBODY he knows supports the Messiah.

* MoDo and Arianna types will trash Palin. But they trashed Hillary too. They are snobs, women who hate other women.

* I remember when Hillary was running to the Senate there was an article in the Washington Post, I think written by Sally Quinn. She said Hillary is making no effort to win over the feminists in NY and that prominents women, playwrights like Wendy Wasserstein etc. were cool towards Hillary. This was true. Hillary made no effort to win them over because she knew they were elitist and did not represent regular people. Instead she concentrated on upstate NY, tried to win over waitresses, fire fighters, nurses, the regular people. She knew in her bones they would decide the election, not the liberal elites. She won a landslide. Hillary followed the same strategy this election. She appealed to and won over blue collar voters. Unfortunately the liberal elites, many of them in the media lynched her.

* Sarah Palin is a horror. But not much different from Obama in the experience department. She will appeal to waitress moms.

* The entire media establishment declared war on Hillary. From the Nation to the National Review, from Frank Rich to William Krystal, From MoDo to Peggy Noonan, they were united in their hatred of her. Sarah Palin will not have that problem. MoDo types will attack her but she will be defended by pundits on the right. Hillary had no one in her corner. She had nobody in the media defending her.

Palin is no different than other Republicans of that stripe, but it almost doesn't matter anymore. The blame has to rest entirely on the Democratic Party for allowing Obama to ever have stolen the nomination. The guy should have been gone before Iowa if it hadn't been for the media and crossover voting manipulation.

The media establishment despised Hillary Clinton in part because they couldn't run Bill out of town when he was president, but in large part because she wouldn't kiss Sally Quinn's royal ass. That is the biggest sin of all in the media's book.

It's pretty hard for Obama to now say McCain and Palin are more of the same. I think this pick undercuts his whole theme of change.

To use a hockey analogy, picking Hillary would have been Obama's open net goal to the presidency, but now that he dissed her once more, Obama's slap shot went wide.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from good Joe Biden.

Lanny Davis said a few months ago on Larry King, "Obama could win without Hillary, but he cannot lose with her."

Game over.

ps How about Geraldine Ferraro? "This pick for McCain may do it."

If this story is true Palin won't be around much longer.

I don't see it hurting McCain though. There will be a lot of sympathy for Palin.

I doubt the rumor is true. The baby was born prematurely. Somebody on one of the links provided at your link has a YouTube of Palin from March. She's clearly pregnant in the video.

I had a bump around my lower abdomen which I still have, and I have never been pregnant.

I think Obama supporters are trying too hard here.
