Campaign Polls

Yep, it's early, but I think this poll is ominous for the Democrats.

What the hell will happen when McCain gets in? What will happen to the Democrats?

I would push for a mass purge of the nutroots from the Democratic Party (after all, most of them aren't really Democrats in the first place), and then start closing loopholes in the various laws and regulations allowing for crossover voting in the primaries so that they NEVER have this kind of blatant manipulation.

The party also needs to get rid of the DNC chair, the darling of the nutroots without which he would never have applied for the job.

Finally, there needs to be a recognition of how much the other side has rigged the whole process for their benefit including using the media for nonstop propaganda in favor of one candidate to the exclusion of all others. They don't have to engage in general election rigging if the primaries and caucuses are doing the work.

I believe the turning point for Obama was his world tour. He showed himself to be arrogant and presumptuous and a lot of people took notice.

Susan,

Obama's strategy is clear. He plans to "beat" Palin the same way he beat Hillary. He is going to stay above the fray and not attack her. After all he never really directly attacked Hillary. He left the impression that he was running a positive campaign while Hillary was portrayed as mean and nasty.

Obama didn't go after Hillary directly because he didn't have to. His handmaidens in the media, right left and center, did the character assassination for him. And Hillary did not have anyone in the media defending her.

It is a different ballgame this time. Palin has lots of supporters in the media. The entire right wing media supports her. MSM journalists fear the GOP and liberal bias charges so they are going easy on her. So Palin has lots of protection.

As I said before Palin has two hurdles, convention speech and the debate. She already passed the convention speech test. Now she has to do OK in the debate. After that she will just show up for photo ops.

The media will have a much kinder and gentler standard for Palin than they did to Hillary. They are not going to trash her 24/7. They can't. The GOP leaders won't allow it. Dem leaders allowed the media to trash Hillary.

I would argue ANY negative coverage of Palin helps her, and this is the point of the negative media coverage. It's deliberate.

Call it reverse psychology. The media has always been in the tank for McCain.
