Here we have polls showing basically a tie between the two major party presidential candidates, yet Obama is spending nearly 3 to 1 in TV ads in order to be competitive with McCain.

Again I ask: WHERE is the money financing Obama's campaign coming from?


Clue phone to the Obama campaign: If you treat the media like shit, don't expect them to fall all over you. And make sure the campaign plane doesn't stink like hell.

Of course Obama wouldn't either, but he hasn't been in the Senate for a million years like McCain or Biden, for that matter.

The Nutroots Chronicles, Chapter MMVIII

Obama is quickly fading, just as I have been saying, but do you think the nutroots care about what happens, not only the the presidential ticket, but to those downticket races as well?

Of course not. When his supporters are faced with facts, they instead keep trashing fellow Democrats such as Clinton supporters, which Obama needs to have a chance in hell.

Unfortunately, the damage was done May 31 by the RBC, and nothing could be done to reverse course.

The DNC either didn't want to offend a key voting bloc, the African American bloc, in selecting Obama, or else they thought the gravy train of obscene amounts of cash would come in forever.

I am afraid it isn't going to happen.

Nobody can claim they weren't warned about the disaster on the horizon.

We SHOULD be afraid, of course, but unfortunately Democrats have a turkey on the top of the presidential ticket. Throwing Biden "under the bus" is ludicrous; Hillary Clinton couldn't save this ticket if her life depended on it.

The state polls are damning. Here we are weeks out before the election, and Obama is sinking like a rock.

More Commentary

When people tell you don't worry about McCain's "bounce" from the convention and not to panic, that's when you should worry and panic if you are an Obama supporter.

The handwriting is on the wall. Obama's been on the downhill slide since February, and no matter what he does now, he can't reverse course.

He ran out of gas. Then the stupid fool goes off public financing for the general election, which is going to screw himself even more. Not to mention it shows the world this fool isn't even a Democrat.

By the way, I expect Nevada to be out of reach and as the campaign wears on, Obama will basically write off the state.

Another Poll

This one shows a "dead heat," but it's clear the momentum is on McCain's side.

The Democratic nominee should have been twenty points ahead given how badly the Republicans have messed up the country, but no. They get stuck with a loser.

Yep, it's early, but I think this poll is ominous for the Democrats.

What the hell will happen when McCain gets in? What will happen to the Democrats?

I would push for a mass purge of the nutroots from the Democratic Party (after all, most of them aren't really Democrats in the first place), and then start closing loopholes in the various laws and regulations allowing for crossover voting in the primaries so that they NEVER have this kind of blatant manipulation.

The party also needs to get rid of the DNC chair, the darling of the nutroots without which he would never have applied for the job.

Finally, there needs to be a recognition of how much the other side has rigged the whole process for their benefit including using the media for nonstop propaganda in favor of one candidate to the exclusion of all others. They don't have to engage in general election rigging if the primaries and caucuses are doing the work.

Just as I expect, John McCain is poised to win in a landslide against Barack Obama in the fall. Of course this poll shows him five points ahead, but this is before the official campaign kicks off, which will be after Labor Day.

There is NO conceivable way Obama can win given the electoral map. None whatsoever.

I believe the Democrats decided to throw this year's election because things are so bad right now that it can be hung around McCain's neck in 2012.

The big problem with this, as I have said repeatedly, is McCain probably will not run more than one term. I don't expect him to die in office, but I just expect he will bag it because of his age. But Democrats are deluding themselves they will win in 2012. It all depends on who McCain picks as his running mate.

The Fallout

When a candidate has been playing divisive politics, especially along racial lines, it is really no surprise at all the candidate isn't closing the divide on race.

The second coming of Jackie O. hasn't got all that great positive poll numbers:

There was even racial dissension over Mr. Obama’s wife, Michelle: She was viewed favorably by 58 percent of black voters, compared with 24 percent of white voters.

I am rather surprised her favorables among black voters are as low as they are.

If "Obama" isn't an official ringer for the Republicans, he is sure as hell doing a great job getting the same kind of results to benefit them.

Obama Sinks as Expected

Some are trying to explain why Obama is basically tied with McCain this far out before the election, something that should NOT surprise anybody who has been carefully and skeptically watching this joke of a race unfold.

It really has nothing to do with Obama's "lurch" to the right or to the "center." That explanation tends to overstate how much "liberal" or "progressive" support there is out there in the real world. It also perpetuates the false notion Obama was EVER a "liberal" or a "progressive." He never was. The drop has to do with more and more "vetting" of this guy (not that there is a lot, but what there is certainly isn't flattering to him), less support from Democrats upset over how the campaign was conducted and resolved, and frankly, with Obama's own problems shifting positions all over the place trying to be all things to all people and making nobody happy in the process. Fewer and fewer people know what this guy stands for, and the few who can make out what he stands for don't trust him one bit.

From the beginning I knew this would happen. When there were polls in Massachusetts months before the general election, the only state McGovern carried in 1972, showing a statistical tie between Obama and McCain, I knew beyond any doubt (and I knew it anyway) Obama had no shot at being president. It was basically over. Hell, the general election for Democrats was over when Edwards was forced out in late January.

Obama has nowhere to go but down in the polls. I expect McCain to win in a landslide, just the way Republicans and the media have wanted it. But they wouldn't have gone anywhere if Democrats, especially the party bigwigs, didn't get behind this loser.

The question is why Democrats are deliberately throwing this election when there were far superior candidates to get behind this campaign.

This new poll shows Obama has a small advantage, but considering we are about four to five months out before the November election, polls are meaningless.

Frankly, McCain has the election in the bag; he always did have the advantage once our stronger candidates like Edwards and Biden were pushed aside. Hillary Clinton would have made this a race, but even she likely would have come up short. But with Obama, hell, I have a better chance of being elected than he does.

More Campaign Follies.

Even though people don't have use for the GOP, the distinct possibility we will have a shitbag for the nominee is good news for John McCain.

While Obama or Clinton do better in matchups against McCain in this and other polls, they really don't mean anything, as the election is determined by the Electoral College. Clinton would do better than Obama, who has such narrow support (college students, blacks, elites--the old McGovern coalition), Democrats would be looking at losing in a landslide.

In my view, it appears a split ticket is in the offering this fall, with Democrats continuing to control one or both houses of Congress while the GOP retains the White House.

Not That It Matters

to Obama's people, but the Wright issue could be and would most likely be a problem for him in the fall, should he get the nomination, according to this poll.

Well, nobody has the balls to point out the obvious to him and to encourage him to get out, and he isn't going to do it anyway because he is still slightly ahead in the delegate count.

Smearing Bill Clinton as some kind of Joseph McCarthy does not do Obama any good, and retired General Tony McPeak should knock it off.

All this nonsense is doing is alienating even more Democrats from supporting Obama if he got the nomination.

McPeak had been a Republican or independent who supported John Kerry in 2004. I saw him in the fall when he appeared with Madeleine Albright in Reno.

Pennsylvania would be gone, and God knows how many other states that went blue last time will go red.

That was the whole idea with the media pumping up two unelectable candidates in the general election. Get rid of the others, especially Edwards, and pump up the remaining two as being "historical."

Voters should be much smarter, but they are not.

when John Edwards left the campaign, the election was basically over.

If the shitbag Obama gets the nomination, expect McCain to ultimately lead him by 25 or 30 points. Obama is that bad, and of course the media will not seriously vet him until it's too late.

Perhaps then there will be a movement to ban crossover and same-day voting in primary/caucus elections.
