Hat Creek Valley from the vista point.

Despite the haze and clouds, Mount Shasta can clearly be seen from the Hat Creek Valley vista point.

Lassen Peak from the Hat Creek Valley vista point. Today was the first time I had stopped there to get a great view of both Lassen and Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta at around 6:00 tonight from Interstate 5 near Weed, California.

Mount Shasta at around 6:30 this morning.

I had the distinct pleasure of doing some fly fishing on Hat Creek once upon a time. Loved It! Beautiful area!
I have gone that route dozens if not hundreds of times in 25 years, and I don't think it has ever been as beautiful as it was yesterday, even with the thunderclouds. The meadows are so green, the reservoirs are full of water, and of course Lassen and Shasta still have lots of snow on them.
I am going to have to get down to the area before returning to Reno and get some sightseeing and hiking in.
Hat Creek is good, too, for the restaurant Fireside Village. I always have to use the bathroom there. It's convenient since there isn't a rest area for miles and miles.
