Charismatic's jockey Chris Antley was commended for saving the life of Charismatic when the horse broke his leg crossing the wire. Unfortunately, Antley couldn't save himself.
Victory Gallop denied Real Quiet a Triple Crown in 1998 in this heartbreaker of a race. It was as close to a dead heat as you can get:

Colonial Affair with jockey Julie Krone, 1993. This is a sad one to watch because favorite Prairie Bayou broke down in the backstretch and had to be euthanized. Just horrible.
