The Education Wars: Better Luck Next Year, "Uncle Walt"

Clark County School District Superintendent Walt Rulffes (I always want to call him "Ruffles") was one of four finalists for the annual National Superintendent of the Year, which, if you read the comments below the article, makes you wonder just how bad the ones who were who didn't make the cut.

A few choice comments:

What a surprise? Considering CCSD is dead last in every category in the nation.

...

Hard to believe that there was a more corrupt and bigger failure the Rulffles to take the top spot.

...

Superintendent of one of the lowest performing school districts in the country. He probably bought the nomination.
No wonder he didn't make the award. He was lucky they didn't laugh him out the door!
He is a prime example of the "Peter Principle". He rose to the level of his own incompetence.

...

Well no sh*t!

...

Gee Carolyn, we're sure glad you're so proud of him because the CCSD support staff thinks he sucks. Thank goodness he has you and Joyce and Sheila and Martha to pat him on the back and tell him he's doing a good job because if he gets out around the people the actually work at the district he won't be feeling the love.

...

Rulffes fails to win national award as Superintendent of the Year and Carolyn Edwards says, "We are proud of him."

PROUD OF HIM? Indeed Carloyn, I can't see one thing about him and his job as the CCSD Superitendent that could possibly make you 'PROUD OF HIM'...

Tell me Ms Edwards, where does the CCSD rank nationally in terms of academics? The latest placed us last in the nation and among the lowest even in impoverished, third world nations. For that you and the Board of Trustees are 'PROUD OF HIM.' GOOD GRIEF...

Tell us Ms. Ewards why your are proud of him when he has created more administrative positions and hired more administrators during his tenure than other superintendents in past history of the CCSD. Rememer Ms Edwards he could not hire more fully qualified teachers because of the lack of money; but here has been plenty of money to create phony jobs and hire more 'double dipping administrators'.

Remember Ms. Edwards there is not enough money for textbooks for every child in the district, paper for classrooms and lack of other consumable supplies. There did that money go...for Administrators. For this you are proud of him?

Remeber that classes in the CCSD are very overcrowded, but whose fault is that? The public? The students? The Parents? The Teachers? Hardly so, it is Walt Rulffes and the Trustees who failed to prioritize district monies and their use. Instead of making students a priority, you all have made hiring and increasing the administrators payroll investmentsof this district larger and larger.

Carolyn Edwards you and your trustee colleagues may be proud of Walt Rulffes but that is another example of your silly, giggly girlish thinking.

You will find out how the public feels about this at the next election!

...

At least the award didn't go to our last CCSD Einstein, Carlos Garcia. He ran outta this town with his tail between his legs to go back to private life. Evidently he couldn't fleece the business world like he could fleece the public sector. He's baaaaack! Well, in San Fran, at least. Running THEM further into the ground.
