Arne Must Be Reading His Email

and realizing outraged parents and educators may have a say in the 2012 elections, so he is thinking about more "waivers" for schools.  But there are serious questions being raised about Duncan's willingness to bypass Congress if they don't act to reauthorize NCLB, which many in both parties are reluctant to do given its colossal failure.

Of course, more and more schools will fail AYP because they are supposed to as an excuse to get rid of ALL public schools and replace them with charters and private schools.

I hate these assholes in both political parties who are killing our democracy because they are bought and paid for.

This comment I agree with:

Arne Duncan has been at the helm of the education department in the federal government, I think most Americans worry and are wearied about his executive power used as a wrestling match-you do this and I'll give you this. Never mind most of his educational experimentation not backed up by any solid research just done to provide opportunities for hedge fund investors penchant for privatization of public education. Coming from a competitive sports background such as basketball, Mr. Duncan views and treats all his educational decisions as a sports game-always winners and losers--now he's using his executive authority to modify one of the requirements of NCLB that all public school children reach 100% reading proficiency by 2014. Duncan is willing to use his powers to fix the problem with the law but at the expense of the nation's beleaguered public school system capitulating to his requirements--emphasis on charter schools, placing them in public school buildings, new teacher evaluation system, using standardized test scores to rate teachers, dismantling the tenure system, etc.-- many not well researched. I find it interesting that a man with little formal college credentials a BA only under his belt in sociology was appointed to such an important policy making position in the nation to wield so much power, requiring highly credentialed and effective educational personnel in the public schools of America when he has so few himself. Duncan last fall gave a speech at the American Enterprise Institute forum degrading graduate education and viewed it as a "waste of time" paying higher salaries to teachers with master's degrees, saying it has no impact on student learning or achievement. Yet he ironically espouses the need for highly effective teachers in the classroom. When is this all ending and public education put back on track again?

Duncan's entire approach to education is the exact opposite of what teaching is supposed to be, which is collaborative, NOT competitive.  That's a dumb jock for you.
