Students at Penn State, or at least a lot of them, thought supporting former coach Joe Paterno was more important than the safety of minor children.
The mentality is distinctly sick. Paterno, especially after arrogantly announcing his retirement, asked to be fired because he put football first over his legal and moral failings.
Photos of the riots are here.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised about riots over sports matters. It's done all the time at soccer games in other countries.
By the way, the alleged victims' civil lawyer is wrong to criticize the Board of Trustees' action. Paterno is every bit as responsible for this scandal as the others.
