Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been forced to resign immediately and will not coach another game, the Board of Trustees announced after Wednesday night's meeting at the Penn Stater Hotel.
John P. Surma, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, made the announcement at a press conference following the meeting.
Paterno was notified of the move over the phone earlier this evening.
Longtime defensive coordinator Tom Bradley has been named as interim coach. Bradley will coach the Nebraska game this Saturday.
Paterno was head coach for 46 years and worked at Penn State for 61. He was considered a class act for decades. All of that hard work is all for nothing. He will go down in history as the man who looked the other way when a serial pedophile was on the campus destroying young boys' lives, the man who was at the center of perhaps the biggest scandal in the history of college sports.
