Another principal is allowed to resign rather than be fired when he commits misconduct, in this case a criminal misdemeanor:

Criminal misdemeanor charges have been filed against a former southwest Florida high school principal accused of using hypnosis on students.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports George Kenney informed school district officials this week that he'll resign his job, effective June 30.

He'll be able to go to work someplace else because he was allowed to resign rather than be fired.

It's true more older Americans are forced back into the labor force, but it is equally and probably MORE true that more of them are forced OUT and can't get back in or are relegated to temporary or part-time jobs.
