This Teacher Should Have Been a Nevada Principal

and been spared the public embarrassment of not only being reprimanded by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission of Oregon but also noted in the local media:

The TSPC found Van Beurden’s conduct to be a gross neglect of duty citing lack of professional judgment, using employment time or school resources for private purposes and failure to maintain the dignity of the profession by respecting and obeying the law and exemplifying personal integrity and honesty. Her actions also led to a significant disturbance on school grounds.

The school district was swift to act. In order to avoid an interpretation of favoritism or covering up, a private investigator was hired.

“The investigator did a fantastic job,” said Superintendent A. J. Grauer. The incident occurred on a Thursday and by Monday both of the people involved were no longer employed by the district.

One of the two employees resigned immediately, the other was fired.

The principal I had was merely demoted. He still has a job and with no action done to his license at all as far as I know. He should have been fired for doing the same thing and actually worse because it was with a subordinate.
