Of course, Philadelphia may still offer him the superintendent job there, so it could change.
I cannot believe the board is that stupid, but they exceeded my already low expectations.
Martinez was brought out to Nevada by Heath Morrison in order to score federal dollars, as Martinez was a crony of Arne Duncan's in Chicago. He couldn't score enough money, so he was forced out and ended up as deputy superintendent of instruction for Clark County. He had been in the job only a year.
The board needs to be recalled for stupidity.
Martinez, of course, is a Broadie like Morrison. He has no experience as a teacher or a principal and has no background whatsoever in education other than the Broad "academy." He's a CPA by trade.
This is a slap in the face to the other candidates. Martinez is the least qualified person for the job, even less qualified than Wake County's Judy Peppler.
What in the fuck even possessed that board to pick somebody utterly lacking in talent?
It appears he has accepted the offer, so he's out of the running for the Philly job.
According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Pedro Martinez has accepted the superintendent job in Washoe County, Nevada. He was one of two finalists for the Philly superintendent's job.
The job is pending contract negotiations. You know this guy will make even more money than Morrison, who at least is an educator, and stay in even less time.
