To Disregard Actual Teaching Experience

for the position of superintendent is an outrage, to say the least.

WCSD is in hopeless shape with a board of trustees like the current one:

Choosing a superintendent is important work, and during the 2009 and 2012 superintendent searches, I reached out to hundreds of local citizens to ask, “What qualities do you want to see in our next superintendent?”

I believe Heath embodied those qualities in 2009, and Pedro embodies
the qualities WCSD needs now:

» Extensive public education leadership gained in Nevada.
» A lifetime of business and financial experience gained in Chicago.
» A belief that children should succeed and can succeed if their teachers and principals are provided the best tools and resources possible.

My response:

1. What "experience" he has was in positions he was not qualified to have. He is noted to be a failure in Clark County. By the way, WHY did he leave WCSD the first time? Rumor has it because he couldn't generate enough federal money and was pushed out. Why in the hell hire him back, for God's sake, given that record?

2. Business experience isn't needed for superintendent work; in fact, that is a hindrance, because schools are not businesses in the first place. Martinez has financial experience, but he was suited for a chief financial officer position, not an academic position, let alone a superintendent job. It's not even legal, by the way, to hire a superintendent with no teaching experience.

3. Sounds okay, but it'll never happen because of budget cuts.
