He is striking back after being struck down by police who accuse him of being within striking distance of striking teachers.
He's not very convincing, and he is trying to justify crossing the picket lines by claiming he isn't doing it for the money but for the kids, while the striking teachers ARE doing it for the money and NOT for the kids.
More "through the looking glass" type of "thinking," if you ask me.
