You know, all the board had to do was follow Martinez's contract and follow the Open Meeting Law. Martinez would have been gone with a nice little severance package and maybe the people who wanted the police chief back would get their wish, assuming that was really the motive of the board. How hard was it for this board to follow the law? Why did the board feel they could pull their little shit when the only Latina on the board was out of town when the secret vote was taken and get away with it?
They are just monumental fuck-ups. As the Reno Gazette-Journal noted in their stinging editorial this morning, these board members know better, including the newest ones.
Now it appears Martinez and his lawyer are going to file suit, perhaps as early as tomorrow, against the school board or the district. Evidently the Office of the Attorney General is starting to investigate.
