Preakness 2016 Results Updated With Video

Exaggerator avenged his defeat in the Kentucky Derby by winning in the slop in this year's Preakness Stakes. Cherry Wine was second. Nyquist seemed to run out of gas in the homestretch. The pace was very fast at the beginning of the race, and he may have burned out. He finished third. It was the latter's first loss in his career.

No Triple Crown winner this year.

Jockey Kent Desormeaux and his brother Keith are among the connections of Exaggerator, who did very well in the Derby two weeks ago. Kent, for those few of you who have read my blog over the years will remember, was the jockey who in 2008 piloted Big Brown to victory in the Derby and Preakness but then eased his horse in the Belmont, apparently the horse having some kind of foot injury or shoe problem.

More is here.

Earlier today, Homeboykris, a 9-year-old gelding, collapsed and died after winning a race. He suffered from a cardiovascular collapse.

A four-year-old filly, Preymeda, broke down and fell in an undercard today and had to be put down on the track.

Worse still the owners of this filly owned Barbaro, who broke down in the 2006 Preakness and died early in 2007 from laminitis complications.

I don't care what the animal "rights" whackos say, these people treat these horses like they are pets.
