Sunday Reads for Mother's Day

It simply isn't enough to say women need "equal pay"--we need to stop denigrating the work women do.

The "family wage" concept has been completely ruinous for women.

This is goddamned unreal:

Take dumbass queer theory--please--and cross it with online porn, and you get the latest perversion that is all the rage, choking.  Yes, it is a perversion and also it is criminal behavior.

Strangulation was Green River Killer Gary Ridgway's modus operandi.  It wasn't a kink with him, just merely an easy and relatively clean way to dispose of his victims. He merely strangled them with his bare hands when the women weren't facing him.   How different are these perverted men from Ridgway?  It is only a matter of degree.

Yet women tolerate this shit from men for fear of losing those men's love and wind up alone (and supposedly at the mercy of other violent men).  They need to dump these perverts.

Dines:

In mainstream media targeted to women, choking, or “breath play,” as it is often referred to, is rebranded as edgy, hot sex that somehow gives the woman power. Women’s Health Magazine recently promoted the act, suggesting it can “be an exhilarating experience for some people.” While the article does admit it could lead to death, it nonetheless provides some handy tips for those women squeamish at the thought of this “hot” sex. (Learning to relax is one recommendation!) The authors quote a sex therapist who manages to flip the power dynamics by arguing that the “turn on” is that he is prepared to do anything to have you, and the result is that “you feel you have an erotic power over him.”
Time for a reality check! Data from studies on domestic violence indicate that the women most at risk of being murdered by their partners are those who were choked. Frontline activists who work with battered women say that while the batterer calls it “choking,” it is in many cases actually strangulation. Of these women, “up to 68% will experience near-fatal strangulation by their partner”. Being strangled damages the “woman’s throat and makes breathing, swallowing, coughing and talking difficult.” When the batterer takes it a few step further, “loss of consciousness can occur within 5 to 10 minutes; death within minutes.”

Women HAVE to dump these perverted men because their lives depend on it.  There are far worse things than being alone.

This is hardly bad news.

The 1950s aren't coming back, thank God.

Obituary:  My Lai massacre figure Ernest Medina, 81, has died.  He was acquitted at a court-martial of the case.

After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Army as a private in 1956. He later attended Officer Candidate School, was commissioned as a lieutenant and arrived in Vietnam in December 1967.
In the weeks before My Lai, Lieutenant Calley’s platoon had suffered casualties when his men wandered into a minefield. Captain Medina rescued survivors, an act for which he was later awarded a Silver Star.
Mr. Medina and Mr. Calley both resigned from the Army after their court-martials. Mr. Medina settled with his family in Marinette and worked as a salesman for a helicopter company and a real estate agent. Mr. Calley joined a family jewelry business in Georgia.

Another obit:  Pro football coach Chuck Knox, 86, has also died.  He won the NFL Coach of the Year award three times:

A head coach in the N.F.L. for 22 seasons, Knox never had a Super Bowl team, but he rebuilt three lackluster teams — the Los Angeles Rams, the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks — into playoff squads, taking them to a total of seven division championships.
