Today I made a downpayment on a new bike, the first one I have bought in 31 years. It is a Specialized Ruby, around two grand, and I figure at my age this will likely be the last road bike I ever buy. I put it on layaway today, so I have three or four months to pay off the balance, which I should be able to do.
The bike shop had an older Ruby, and I really liked the color on it, but I figure this is my best chance to get a brand-new bike before my income gets cut back this fall. The increased hours at my job were only temporary. I am applying for new jobs for the fall, but I don't know if I will get another position next year. I am afraid, after what I went through in Nevada, of applying for another teaching position, especially a full-time one.
