Bodexpress threw his jockey at the start of the race after bucking in the starting gate, but he was okay after running the entire race without a rider. Not only that, but he ran another lap before being caught by the outrider. There is talk of refunding bettors over this incident.
Bodexpress's jockey, before he was thrown, was John Velazquez. He was okay, too.
Meanwhile, War of Will, ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, won this year's running of the Preakness. He won the race, unimpeded, in 1:54.34, way off Secretariat's record. Everfast was second, and Owendale was third.
Favorite Improbable, trained by Bob Baffert, came in sixth.

Not the first time a riderless horse was featured in a major race. It happened in the 1967 Hollywood Gold Cup, featuring Native Diver and Pretense, the sire of Secretariat's rival Sham. The race starts at around 3:10 in the video:
