Story of the Day in Phoenix, Oregon

After weeks and weeks of speculation, the body found in the home of one-time Mouseketeer Dennis Day is in fact him.  Because the body had been in the house for many, many months, decomposition made it such that it would take a long time to confirm his identity.

Day died about a year ago at home.  He was married to his longtime partner, but that partner had been hospitalized with a number of health issues.

The confirmation marks the end of an unusual missing persons investigation that began nearly 11 months ago and took the efforts of friends and family to get off the ground.

Investigators found the longtime Phoenix resident’s body April 4 in the Pine Street home Day shared with his husband, Ernest “Ernie” Caswell, when investigators used two K-9s and a drone to search the property, according to earlier news reports. Day was last seen in the middle of July 2018.

Caswell now lives in a Southern Oregon assisted-living facility.

According to the article, the cause of death is still under investigation.

Dennis Day's home is in Phoenix, Oregon, which is not far from where I live.
