Early Voting (5-1) has won the 147th Preakness Stakes, winning by a length against favorite Epicenter. Creative Minister was third. The filly, Secret Oath, came in fourth. The time was 1:54.54
It was the first Preakness win by jockey Jose Ortiz. The trainer is Chad Brown. Seth Klarman, owner of Cloud Computing, Preakness winner five years ago, is the owner of Early Voting. This was the horse's first win in four starts.
He is not expected to run in the Belmont.

He is a son of Gun Runner, while his dam is Amour D'Ete, a daughter of Tiznow. Yes, Secretariat is in the pedigree as he is in literally thousands of racehorses today.

Epicenter appears to be the favorite for today. We will see if he delivers the goods.
Secretariat's record time in the Preakness is unlikely to be broken today. Forensics proved beyond doubt he had set the record in 1973, and the Maryland Racing Commission accepted the findings in 2012.
