Obituary briefs:

Herbert Middleton, Jr., who professionally used the obviously fake name Taurean Blackque, has died.  He was 82 and best known for his role on Hill Street Blues.

In addition to his roles, he was known as a spokesperson for adoption.  Ten of his 12 children are adopted.

Actress Rebecca Balding, 73, known for her roles on television series SOAP and Charmed, died at her home in Park City, Utah, on July 18 from ovarian cancer.

Mickey Rooney, Jr., 77, actor and musician and of course son of the famed actor, died at his home in Glendale, Arizona.  No cause of death was given.  He also had a part when he was young as a backup  Mouseketeer.  As noted in the obit, he and his younger brother, Tim, got sacked because they took after their dad too much in causing mischief.

Writer David Dalton, 80, died of cancer.  He wrote a number of highly regarded books about celebrities who were symbols of popular culture.
