After being photographed with his fist in the air to the adoring fans ready to storm the Capitol, Sen. Hawley of Missouri decided to make a run for it when those very fans took their Fearless Leader Trump too seriously.

Representatives Cheney and Kitzinger were admirable in this hearing last night. They behaved the way anybody should behave in a nonpartisan manner. Our politicians fifty years ago were just this way during the Watergate hearings of 1973; there is no good reason why they can't all be this way now. There was no kneejerk partisanship then, just a desire to find the truth no matter where the truth led.
Liz Cheney's congressional career is probably finished after this year, but if she wanted to, she could easily run for president as an independent and siphon votes away from the GOP.
