It is like AIDS/HIV all over again with monkeypox and the gay male community.

It's not that other people can't get it, but much of the gay lifestyle amplifies the spread of diseases.  Case in point:  bathhouses and HIV during the early years of the epidemic.

There is a lot of denial in said community about monkeypox.

Snip:

There have been more than 39,000 cases reported in countries that have not historically seen monkeypox. The vast majority have occurred in men who have sex with men, but health officials stress that anyone can get monkeypox.

The U.S. has the most infections of any country — more than 13,500. About 98% of U.S. cases are men and about 93% were men who reported recent sexual contact with other men.

Of course, the religious right or so-called Christian nationalism is a threat to this country.  All authoritarian movements are.  The problem with so much of the opposition to them is they are these idiot atheists who lump all Christian denominations as the same thing, let alone not understand these dominionists have twisted the meaning of "evangelism" and "evangelical."  These charismatics and pentecostals are not really Christian anyway.

I predict Nevada's Catherine Cortez-Masto will be re-elected to the U.S. Senate in November.

I never believed she was ever in real danger of losing.  Adam Laxalt is somebody who has always tried to capitalize on his surname, which has meant a lot in the Silver State over the years.  He could have run for office in New Mexico and changed his surname to his daddy's.  His daddy was Senator Pete Domenici, who died in 2017.  He was in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009.

Displaying the family values so apparent in the GOP, Pete had an affair with then-Senator Paul Laxalt's daughter, lobbyist Michelle, who got knocked up with Adam, born in 1978.  Apparently it was a one-night stand.  The affair was all hush-hush until 2013 when it became public.  Pete admitted it.  Adam went on to be elected AG in Nevada, beating former Governor Bob Miller's son, Ross.  Adam lost his bid to become governor, losing to Steve Sisolak.

More gossip is here.
