I decided at this late date in the summer to make the short (about 44 miles) trip to the Lake of the Woods Resort, located off Oregon Highway 140 East, about halfway between Medford and Klamath Falls. It was my first time there. It was not all that busy, which was good since I parked right inside the resort after paying the $10 day use fee. There are a number of hiking trails there which combined total 7.1 miles. I spent my hiking time along the shoreline including hiking the Sunset Trail. The centerpiece of the lake is Mt. McLoughlin, a nearby volcano. Here are a few pictures I took of the area:
