A 78-year-old man, identified as Deck Brewer Jr., faces charges for the 1980 kidnapping and murder of Susan Leigh Wolfe, a nursing student whose body was found shortly after she disappeared. The Austin Police Department announced the charges on Friday, highlighting how recent advancements in DNA technology played a pivotal role in cracking this cold case.

On January 9, 1980, Wolfe was abducted just one block from her home as she walked to visit friends. Witnesses reported seeing Brewer forcibly take her, wrapping her with a coat to conceal her identity.
