News, Etc.

Ron Paul's weirdo beliefs began at a very early age.

Obituary: Kennedy-trashing author John H. Davis, who supposedly had more "credibility" than most because he was a cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, has died. He was 82 and suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
_____

Speaking of Kennedy trashing, a woman who has been claimed to have had an affair with JFK when she was an intern is now deciding to cash in herself.

Sorry if I don't believe her bullshit. Wait fifty years to tell "all"? Must be hurting financially.

JFK's "affairs" I believe have been wildly exaggerated. The man could hardly move because of his numerous health problems, and it strains credulity that he had women by the truckload.

Perverted justice: While teachers accused of criminal misconduct, including child molestation, can be protected for years on end by school administrators, others find their lives destroyed by these same administrators for committing no offense at all. They have no means of fighting back in a legal system that is rigged against them.

I know this firsthand. It is hardly unique to LAUSD.

Birmingham School will be hiring some 60 Temps for America in another example of the undermining of teaching as a profession.

That'll teach Dennis Kucinich for being a vegan:

U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) is suing the operators of a House cafeteria for alleged negligence stemming from a almost 3-year-old incident involving a sandwich he says left him with significant dental injuries.

And no, the famous McDonald's coffee spilling suit was NOT frivolous, as a new documentary shows. The plaintiff died in 2004.

Whatever happened to Jacqueline Kennedy's pink pillbox hat that she wore the day her husband was assassinated?

News, Etc.

The only thing that would have been more "shocking" than Sharron Angle's loss against Senator Harry Reid is if she would have won.
_____

Ben Bernanke is put on the defensive regarding fed policy.

It seems yet another Obama crony is in trouble, this one over an alleged kickback scheme.

The Chicago school of politics went national with the inauguration of Barack Obama.
_____

Ralph Nader uses his creativity--or maybe not--by imagining our previous squatter in the White House writing a letter to Barry.
______

Unbelievable if you're old enough, but it has been fifty years since JFK was elected president over Richard Nixon. It's also unbelievable that lofty ideas Kennedy espoused were buried and forgotten almost as soon as he died.

JFK might as well have been living on another planet. We are now so far from any kind of sense of justice, equality, and decency we might just as well be living in the medieval times of feudalism.

Toyota gets more bad press:

Consumer Reports has given the Lexus GX 460 SUV a rare "Don't Buy" warning, saying a problem that occurred during routine handling tests could lead to a rollover accident in real-world driving.

In the latest blow to Toyota's reputation, the magazine said that during a test of the vehicle's performance during unusual turns, the rear of the vehicle slid until it was nearly sideways before the electronic stability control system kicked in.

Interviews with Jackie Kennedy made in 1964 will be made public next year, the 50th anniversary of JFK's inauguration.

The interview is part of what became the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library's Oral History and, at Jacqueline Kennedy's request, was kept sealed for an indefinite time. She died in 1994.

Now, with the 50th anniversary of her father's inauguration coming next year, daughter Caroline Kennedy is allowing the conversations to be widely released.

In September 2011, Hyperion will publish the transcripts and release six and one half hours of audiotape, providing a new and extended opportunity to hear the famously breathy voice of Jacqueline Kennedy discuss topics she rarely touched upon in public. Caroline Kennedy will serve as editor and write an introduction for the book, currently untitled, and a historian will provide annotation. (Schlesinger, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, died in 2007.)

''My mother's passion for history guided and informed her work in the White House,'' Kennedy, president of the Kennedy Library Foundation, said in a statement Tuesday issued by Hyperion. ''She believed in my father, his vision for America, and in the art of politics, and felt it was important to share her knowledge and excitement with future generations. It is a privilege for me to honor the memory of my parents by making this unique history available.''
