The Amanda Knox Case

is surely a hideous injustice, especially now that 48 Hours has pretty much blown apart the prosecution's case out of the water.

Both she and her boyfriend should be released, but this despicable, lawless prosecutor is hellbent on getting her convicted. Public opinion in Italy always wants her convicted and imprisoned.

Here is another story about the persecutor--er, prosecutor:

The Italian prosecutor managing the murder trial of Seattle native Amanda Knox has added another target to his list -- Knox's neighborhood newspaper, the West Seattle Herald.

According to a BBC report filed Thursday, prosecutor Giuliano Mignini told reporters that he would take legal action against the paper for a Jan. 30 story that contained a claim by Knox's supporters that Mignini is "mentally unstable."

Murder of the Week

A 91-year-old has been is accused of shooting his caretaker, who was 38 years old.

The elderly man lived at a group home, which makes one wonder if he had dementia. The victim was the owner of the home:

Troyer said the elderly man opened fire after the caregiver arrived at 10:39 a.m. to take him to the doctor. The small, adult care facility is in the 5800 block of 62nd Street West.

Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum, who is handling media calls, said that detectives aren't sure what prompted the shooting.

"There is no indication of what started the argument, where he got the gun, or how he got it in there," Fulghum said.

In a different case, Amanda Knox, a U.S. student from Seattle, appeared in court with regard to charges of being involved in the slaying of her roommate, Meredith Kercher of England.

San Francisco is known as being one of the best places in the country for restaurants, but unfortunately many chefs are quitting because they can't afford to live in the Bay Area:

Across the country, restaurant owners complain of staffing shortages. Many partly blame the newly glamorous role of chefs in the media, which has created a legion of chef-wannabes. But San Francisco's high cost of living, minimum wage laws and new sick leave and health insurance mandates mean that restaurants are being hit harder here than in other cities.

Because owners must pay servers the city-mandated minimum wage of $9.14 per hour, even though the wait staff also earns tips, line cooks' wages are effectively frozen at $10 to $15 an hour. Owners say there's simply not enough payroll to go around.
