Gene Lyons Column
In my opinion, if anybody misinterpreted the obvious satire in the New Yorker cartoon with the Obamas on the cover, then there is not much hope for the human race.
Miscellaneous
Vanity Fair tries to ape the New Yorker.
_____
David Bossie of Citizens United and The Clinton Chronicles infamy will have a new video out just in time for the Democratic Convention. It is about "Obama," of course.
I'd take anything the guy said with a huge grain of salt.

Supposedly the National Enquirer has been stalking John Edwards and claiming he was visiting his "mistress" and "love child."
It smells like bullshit to me, especially given the reports Edwards is on Obama's shortlist for running mate.
Somebody doesn't want Edwards to have a shot.
Besides, where are those pictures?
_____
Campaign Crap
The New Yorker in the person of Ryan Lizza got snubbed by the "Obama" campaign.
This all has to do with the silly Obama cover which was meant to poke fun at right-wing talking points against America's new royal couple, and the less-than-flattering article Lizza penned inside the magazine.

Campaign Punditry
Jonathan Alter, continuing with his stupidity supporting "Barack Obama," is deeply offended over the New Yorker cover.
He knows the exact intent of the cover, but he is trying to rile up the supporters who wouldn't know satire or irony or whatever if it bit them in the butt.
