USSC to Women: You Are NOT Human

 As everybody knows, the Alito draft regarding Roe v. Wade was indeed the final decision.  In a 6-3 decision, the corrupt Federalist Society hacks have sent abortion rights back to the states.

It was technically 5-4, as Roberts supported the 15-week law in Mississippi rather than overturn Roe.

Of course, women will still get abortions, the majority of which are  via taking pills.  They aren't going back to the fucking kitchen.

We will have the patchwork disaster of the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii will have full abortion access, Colorado and New Mexico the same thing, perhaps Minnesota, Michigan, and definitely Illinois will have it, and most of the eastern seaboard.  As for the rest of the country such as the Great Plains, Mountain West, and Deep South, women will have to travel.

Or may not.  I would love to see a mass resistance to all of these idiot state laws trying to impose male supremacy on women.  Women aren't going back in the home cooking, cleaning, and sucking male dicks as a condition for financial support; i.e., traditional marriage and babies aka a form of legal prostitution.  The 1950s dies hard.  Young men especially are so screwed up with porn and MRA trash it is literally dangerous for women to bother dating them, let alone having sex with them anymore. These anti-abortion nutjobs want a return to shotgun marriages, early marriages, shaming single women in order to preserve the "traditional family," which refers to patriarchy. They don't believe women have any right to say "no" to men. 

I think the USSC and the GOP are counting on inflation to carry the day for them rather than abortion hurting them.  They may be correct.

I am so sick of this bullshit of people twisting the English language and saying THE truth is instead a matter of a subjective outlook.  There isn't a "his truth" and "her truth."  There is only THE truth.

Apparently this is some kind of Oprahism here.  It makes me enraged when people misuse the language.

Anyway, Senator Jeff Flake, living up to his last name, was all over the place regarding the Brat hearings.  He voted to have the confirmation approved in the Judiciary Committee yesterday, but then, after being confronted by a couple of women in the elevator, pushed to have an FBI investigation.

This is what happened to Flake:

In the morning it emerged that former president George W Bush has been advocating for Kavanaugh with wobbling senators, including Flake, in recent days. Kavanaugh was a former top aide in Bush’s White House.

It seemed to have worked. At 9.25am, Flake announced that he would vote to confirm Kavanaugh, virtually guaranteeing that the nomination would advance to the full Senate. Without evidence to corroborate Ford’s story, he explained, “our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence”.

Five minutes later, Flake faced the consequences of his decision. On his way to the Senate judiciary committee, he stepped into a lift, only for two survivors of sexual assault to stop the door sliding shut. Ana Maria Archila, 39, warned him: “What you are doing is allowing someone who actually violated a woman to sit on the supreme court.”

Maria Gallagher, 23, tearfully challenged the Arizona senator: “I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me. I didn’t tell anyone, and you’re telling all women that they don’t matter, that they should just stay quiet because if they tell you what happened to them you are going to ignore them.”

Trapped in the lift, Flake switched between looking at the women and looking at the floor for nearly two minutes. Gallagher pleaded with him to look her in the eye. “Don’t look away from me,” she said. This visceral moment, captured by TV cameras, appears to have gone some way to pricking Flake’s conscience.

On a somewhat related note, the prep school atmosphere of spoiled brat rich kids provided fodder for drinking and gang rape.

Ford was very, very credible. It was hard for the GOP to pick her apart; in fact, they really couldn't.

Brat needs to withdraw. I haven't seen his testimony, but I have heard he didn't do himself any favors.

I Remember Just How Smart

USSC Associate Justice David Souter was during the Bush v. Gore arguments. He was brilliant, and of course he stood up for the right of the people to pick their president, unlike the corrupt majority.

It's too bad he's stepping down at the mere age of 39, and as I have written when he announced his retirement, I doubt he would have stepped down at all if McCain had been elected.

This tells a reader about what kind of justice he is:

Constitutional change, he explained, “comes about because judges evaluate significant facts differently,” or they “discover some relevance to a constitutional rule where earlier judges saw none.” He said that “historians can come to the rescue” by explaining how and why this happens. His ostensible text was the Supreme Court’s journey from the “separate but equal” holding of Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896 to the desegregation ruling in Brown v. Board of Education 58 years later.

But there was an unspoken, and more pointed, subtext: his continued dismay at the court’s 5-to-4 ruling two years ago that invalidated the effort by the public schools of Louisville, Ky., to prevent resegregation by use of a modestly race-conscious student assignment plan. The dissenters — and Justice Souter was one — viewed the opinion by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. that this once-segregated city lacked any “compelling interest” in preserving its progress toward integration as profoundly ahistorical and as a troubling signal for the court’s future approach to government actions that touched on race.

Their fears seemed well founded this past week, during the court’s final argument session of the term. The question was whether a central portion of the Voting Rights Act is constitutional, and as the argument progressed, it appeared quite likely that the answer from Chief Justice Roberts and his conservative allies might well be “no.” Nathaniel Persily, an election law expert at Columbia Law School who was in the courtroom audience, wrote later on an election law listserv that Justice Souter looked “visibly angry” during the argument. Professor Persily, reflecting the growing expectation that Justice Souter might soon announce his retirement, added: “I got the sense that he was disappointed that he might be leaving the Court with a dissent in this case as being his parting gesture.”

Larry Sinclair needs to explain this or he can just forget it:

Sinclair, who has been making charges about Obama involving sex and drugs, allegedly was taken away at the conclusion of his remarks by U.S. marshals on an outstanding warrant from Delaware.

Some -- perhaps only those on Sinclair's Web site -- suggested this was concocted to embarrass Sinclair because there had been no record of a Delaware warrant after a detailed background check in January.

Well, yes, but no.

There was no warrant in January because it was issued in February after an October incident at a New Castle hotel involving Sinclair.

According to the Delaware State Police and Delaware Superior Court records, Sinclair allegedly paid for a three-week stay at the Rodeway Inn with $2,400 in money orders. The hotel manager later found they were counterfeit and called police.

In February -- long before Obama became the presumptive nominee -- a New Castle County grand jury indicted Sinclair for felony theft and a warrant was issued.

According to state prosecutors, Sinclair was released on $8,000 unsecured bond this week and is due back in court in July for an arraignment.

He does respond to the piece citing what he calls blatant inaccuracies.

A bear decided it didn't like a bike racer on its property and mauled her:

Police officers with shotguns escorted medics into dark woods to retrieve the girl, who underwent surgery at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

“One of the EMS supervisors on the scene said that in his 24 years of doing this, these were the most extensively traumatic injuries he’d seen,” Anchorage Fire Department spokeswoman Cleo Hill said this afternoon.

Like the Gun Nut Ruling

and the child rape ruling there are other rulings the USSC is making with 5-4 decisions. Justice Kennedy is being used as the swing vote in this series of close rulings. Kennedy took the side of the NRA/Federalist Society hacks on the gun issue, and he took the side of the so-called "liberals" on the high court on the child rape death penalty issue.

You can figure Scalia, Alito, Thomas, and Roberts are the Federalist Society hacks who will always rule in favor of right-wing talking points (as in the completely fabricated Second Amendment ruling), and for corporate and financial elite interests. Kennedy will flip whichever way the wind blows. The high court is not ruling on constitutional issues at all or acting as an independent arm; it has become nothing short of another political arm of the GOP for the most part.

The high court struck down a portion of the McCain-Feingold law that allowed candidates to accept larger-than-normal contributions if their opponents use their own wealth to finance campaigns.

Go ahead and tell me the high court gives a goddamned shit about free speech. They care only about the right of the elites to hold and keep office:

The decision basically views a candidate’s ability to buy a political office with a private fortune as a freedom of speech question, equating the unrestricted spending of money with the exercise of First Amendment rights. Alito wrote that the provision was unconstitutional because it “imposes an unprecedented penalty on any candidate who robustly exercises” these rights.

Fucking unbelievable.

There will be a sex tape made available which allegedly shows guitar great Jimi Hendrix having sex with two women.

Unfortunately for the promoter, Hendrix's main girlfriend of the late 1960s, Kathy Etchingham, says it isn't possible it could be him. He was very shy and private.

I side with his onetime girlfriend. It would been out of character for Hendrix. The matter sounds like a hoax:

The film has also been dismissed by Hendrix collectors and historians. One expert said that the rings the man in the film is wearing do not resemble any he had seen in years of studying pictures and film of Hendrix. Charles R. Cross, author of the Hendrix biography “Room Full of Mirrors” (Hyperion, 2005), encountered the film during his book research. “It doesn’t add up to Jimi,” he said.

In the Past

few days, the USSC has made some rulings which boggle the mind in their rejection of precedent and common sense. Perhaps the worst of these recent rulings is the one which appears to have gutted the historic Brown v. Board of Education.

The WSWS, of course, says it's the Democrats' fault for not filibustering Alito and Roberts, ignoring the reality that for the exception of Abe Fortas, there have NEVER been ANY filibusters of Supreme Court nominees. It just isn't done, except for ethical issues as in the case of Fortas. Should there have been filibusters of Alito and Roberts, replacements would have been the same or worse. Furthermore, if a Democratic president were to nominate a Supreme Court justice, the Senate Republicans would return the favor and filibuster those choices.

The answer, of course, is to voters to refuse to elect right-wing Republican presidents.

The WSWS never misses a chance to bash Democrats, so it's par for the course.

Now it has given the far right an excuse to put in state laws restricting or banning all abortions, just so they can be challenged all the way to the USSC.

ruled boneheadedly once again with upholding a ban on late-term abortions which is utterly bogus.

No matter. The USSC has given the green light to further assaults on Roe v. Wade.

So Much

for the principle of the "unitary executive" as the USSC has sided, albeit narrowly, with those who critize our dictator on the issue of global warming.
